If you're even the slightest bit excited by what's going on in the tech world right now, this article on the coming of a WebOS is worth reading. Kottke's take is that Windows (and MacOS, and Linux) are on their way out...and a new generation of browser based apps is on the horizon. Sure, Larry Ellison predicted the demise of the desktop OS to the "Network Computer" back in 1998, but that was long before Gmail, Ajax and Konfabulator.

While this is not going to happen overnight...we're within striking distance.
